Plastic recycling is not the same as other recyclables like paper, and one must recycle different types of plastics. In the process of recycling plastic materials, the type of material that must be recycled must be considered. This way any plastics will be recycled separately, otherwise the recycling process will face drawbacks. Polyethylene is recycled together, polypropylene and polyamide together, as they are shredded and reused during the recycling process, so if a combination of different plastic materials such as disposable containers is used. With different types of crushing and then melting, due to the different melting point the heterogeneous composition is created.
The next issue is the lack of color in plastic materials, which is very important in the recycling process. Because dye polymers do not have uniform dye, they find dark after recycling. As a result, manufacturers use a masterbatch to obtain a stable dye, then film the molten polymer into a plastic bag, which we We use them as black garbage bags. Plastic recycling steps
General steps of plastic recycling

There are generally 3 ways to recycle plastic:

    Mechanical recycling
    Chemical recycling
    Energy Recycling

In Iran, this process of plastic recycling has been described and other procedures are rarely performed in Iran and are not cost-effective.
Plastic Recycling Process

The following recycling steps are true for most plastics, but there are exceptions, such as the basket that can be milled and packaged, sent to the granulation stage, and even to the basket for reproduction, or plastics coming from the factory production line. It is clean and different from the plastic collected from the city. Below we describe a complete process.

    Put waste on conveyor belt
    Isolation based on plastic
    Color separation
    Separation of other materials (metal, wood, glass, etc.)
    Primary wash (pre-wash)
    Eating and grinding
    Rinse with cold water
    Density based cold water separation
    Abrasive wash to eliminate the effect of adhesives or particles that are hard to adhere to plastics
    Hot water wash: This step of washing is not required for all plastic materials and for some it is mandatory, for example PET recycling must be done with a spa bath and also for materials that are greasy.
    Dewatering
    dry
    Label separation (this step is at the beginning of the line in some lines)
    Frame (for nylons and light plastic materials)
    Granule production (this step is performed by the extruder)

Plastic Recycling Steps
Recycling is easy, but one must first know what kind of plastic is recyclable. Plastics have different formulas and must be ordered before recycling to produce new products. Mixed plastics can be recycled but are not worth the sort of plastics because the physical properties of recycled plastics may vary. In fact, the reason for the inability to recycle plastics is their variety. Hundreds of types of plastics are used every day. Many plastics are chemically incompatible and do not have the ability to be easily melted and converted to other materials.
The separation step is very important and as far as possible it should be done even on the basis of color and if this separation is to be achieved, the profit from recycling is higher and the recycled plastic is better.
